Accelerated Administrative Professional Associate Degree to be Offered at MATC-West Allis Beginning in Fall
Milwaukee Area Technical College will offer an accelerated administrative professional associate degree program beginning this fall at its West Allis Campus, 1200 S. 71st St. The program is designed for students with two or more years of current or recent work experience. Students may be able to earn credit for past work experience. Participants will be able to earn their associate degrees as in as little as 19 months, with classes meeting year round.
Most classes run for six weeks and meet Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 2. The program is designed to offer students the chance to spend less time in class and more time in independent study. Students will develop critical leadership, technology and team skills; and will have the opportunity to learn and study with other experienced workers.
This program qualifies students for jobs as administrative assistants, executive assistants, administrative professionals, administrative secretaries, executive secretaries, office assistants, customer service representatives, office managers, receptionists, data entry, plus many others.
Administrative assistant and executive secretary positions are among the occupations expected to be “in the most demand” according to “Wisconsin Jobs 2016: 2006-2016 Wisconsin Employment Projections,” available from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The department estimates 880 average annual job openings for administrative assistants and executive secretaries, with an average annual wage of $35,322.
