Franklin baseball team

holds sign-up on April 23

The Franklin High School baseball sign-up and organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 23 in the high school cafeteria.

Students in grades nine through 12 who are interested in trying out for baseball are urged to attend this meeting.

Greendale's Boyle earns

athlete of week honors

Katie Boyle of Greendale was named a Wal-Mart Athlete of the Week for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in softball.

Boyle, a graduate of St. Thomas More High School, was the pitcher of the week. She went 3-0, allowing no earned runs and nine hits in 16 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. She pitched a five-inning perfect game in a 20-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine March 28.

Youth basketball tourney

scheduled for May 11-13

North American Youth Sports has several openings in the spring youth basketball tournament May 11 to 13 at the Sturtevant Sports Plex.

The tournament features 10 brackets for boys and girls in grades five through 12. All grades are based on the current grade of the student.

The entry fee is $145 and guarantees a minimum of three games, and there will be awards presented in each bracket.
