Police seeking suspects in similar 27th Street burglaries

Sept. 10, 2013

Franklin and Oak Creek police are investigating break-ins at two stores on 27th Street that occurred over Labor Day weekend.

According to the Franklin police report:

The front door window at The Salvation Army Family Store, 6341 S. 27th St., was smashed out and a black metal safe was stolen from the business between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 2. The safe contained about $450, cash drawers and business paperwork belonging to The Salvation Army.

Franklin police believe the burglary might be related to a break-in that occurred at Aldi's, 6810 S. 27th St., during the same timeframe.

In the break-in at Aldi's, video from a security camera shows a male smashing a front window about 10:10 p.m. Sept. 1. He walks away from the building in a northwest direction, but returns to the business at 1:15 a.m. wearing different clothing.

Police believe the man changed clothes due to a large amount of blood that was found outside the store office window. According to police, he did not steal anything during the Aldi's break-in.

Police from both departments are collecting evidence and reviewing the surveillance video in an attempt to identify the man.
