Police Report: July 31

July 31, 2012


1A laptop, a purse, a radar detector, a cased air ratchet socket set, chrome Harley-Davidson exhaust pipes, a pair of motorcycle tires and a black leather Harley-Davidson motorcycle seat with a padded sissy bar were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 7400 block of South 38th Street between 10:15 p.m. July 26 and 8 a.m. July 27.

2Two full sets of golf clubs, valued at $550 each, were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 6800 block of South Julianna Drive between 11 p.m. July 26 and 5 a.m. July 27. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman club covers also were taken.


3Thirty-nine DVDs were stolen from the Franklin Public Library, 9151 W. Loomis Road, between July 4 and July 24.

4Scrap metal was stolen from a property in the 4500 block of West Oakwood Road between July 18 and July 25.

5A 41-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both of Milwaukee, were arrested for possession of stolen property and shoplifting and a 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting two air mattresses, a bottle of Freon and a pair of speakers at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at noon July 23.

6A 20-year-old New Berlin woman was arrested for shoplifting merchandise at the Mobil gas station, 7103 S. 27th St., at 6:40 p.m. July 24.

7An iPod Touch was stolen from a locked car in the 4000 block of West Jerelin Drive at 4:14 a.m. July 25. The driver-side window was smashed to gain access.

8An MP3 player was stolen from an unlocked truck in a driveway in the 7500 block of South Bishops Way between 11 p.m. July 26 and 5:30 a.m. July 27.

9A 36-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting a $98 radio at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 5:45 p.m. July 27.

10A 73-year-old West Allis man was arrested for shoplifting a pair of sunglasses at Menards, 10925 W. Speedway Drive, at 12:40 p.m. July 28.

11A 20-year-old Franklin man was arrested for shoplifting $12 worth of wire at Menards, 10925 W. Speedway Drive, at 1:40 p.m. July 29.

12A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting several packages of trading cards and carrying a concealed knife at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 5:05 p.m. July 29.


13A car was scratched while parked in the 7400 block of South Hillendale Drive overnight July 23. The victim's cars were also vandalized in four other incidents in the last few weeks: a light on one vehicle was shot out by a BB gun and another car sustained roof damage consistent with someone walking on the roof of the car.

14The door on an outdoor shed was forced open in the 6400 block of South 27th Street between 1 and 4 p.m. July 24. No items were reported missing from the shed.


15A 16-year-old girl was treated for multiple puncture wounds after she was bitten on both of her hands and wrists by a mixed-breed dog while she was babysitting in the 7200 block of South North Cape Road at 8:30 a.m. July 24. Police are following up with the dog's owners.

16Officers and a canine unit found a small safe containing a loaded gun at Wehr Nature Center, 9701 W. College Ave., just after 8:30 p.m. July 24. The items had been stolen from a home in Greendale.

17A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he attempted to slash tires on vehicles in the parking lot at Skyway Motel, 8361 S. 27th St., at 9:15 a.m. July 25. He also was taken into custody for a probation/parole violation, driving with a suspended license and speeding.

18A 38-year-old Franklin man was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior and exposing genitals to a child after he stood on his front steps with nothing on but a T-shirt and exposed himself to his neighbor and her child in the 3500 block of West Rawson Avenue at 4:50 p.m. July 29.

19A 17-year-old Wind Lake boy was arrested for underage possession of alcohol and carrying a concealed weapon and was cited for speeding in the 8000 block of South Mission Drive at 6:30 p.m. July 29. Officers discovered a bottle of alcohol and brass knuckles in the boy's vehicle after he was pulled over for speeding.

20Officers responding to a noise complaint at a residence in the 4000 block of West College Avenue arrested an 18-year-old New Berlin woman for underage drinking after she stumbled out a door, fell on the ground and vomited at 1:30 a.m. July 30. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.25.


21Police officers and firefighters responded to a vehicle on fire in a driveway in the 6600 block of West Beacon Hill Place at 2:15 a.m. July 25. A neighbor called police after the horn went off several times and a fire started in the engine. The vehicle began to turn over prior to becoming engulfed in flames. An electrical problem is the suspected cause.

22Firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting a vehicle on fire close to the building at On The Border, 10741 S. 27th St., at 4:12 p.m. July 26. Investigators believe the fire began in the fuse box.

Franklin police responded to two domestic violence calls and assisted with three rescue calls and three fire calls between July 23 and July 30.
