Greendale Police Report: Aug. 14, 2014 issue

1 A woman called police on Aug. 1 to report her cell phone was stolen while she was working at Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 76th St., about four months ago, and now she is receiving messages from a female who is trying to sell her phone back to her.

2 A woman's purse was stolen while she was shopping at Walmart, 5301 S. 76th St., at about 6:10 p.m. Aug. 1.

3 An IBM laptop, an iPad Air, a passport, an external hard drive and receipts/paperwork were reported stolen from an apartment in the 8600 block of Westlake Drive at about 4:15 p.m. Aug. 2. The victim told police he met a couple at Potawatomi Casino and invited them to his residence at about 5 a.m. that morning, and he believes they took the items. According to police, the victim was unable to provide an accurate account of what exactly occurred due to his level of intoxication.

4 Two men were arrested for attempted theft and vandalism after they tried to gain entry into a jewelry case at Kohl's, 5300 S. 76th St., and then fled back into the mall area at about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7.

5 Seven adults were arrested for shoplifting at Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 76th St., between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8.

Drunken driving

6 A man was arrested for drunken driving after his minivan struck a rock in a parking lot near the 4900 block of West College Avenue, and he was seen stumbling away from his vehicle to seek assistance from a friend at about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 3. A chemical breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.17.
