Police Report: March 18

1A woman was arrested for theft and forgery for stealing checks from an elderly resident at The Courts, 195 W. Puetz Road, and cashed them for about $1,650 between Nov. 14 and March 4. The woman, who cleaned the victim's residence, also used the account to pay credit card bills in excess of $1,000 via the Internet.

2A person stole two Xbox controllers from Target, 8989 S. Howell Ave., before 2:50 p.m. March 10, then left the store and went to a Target store in Milwaukee and stole more controllers. The person was taken into custody by Milwaukee police and cited for theft.

3A man was arrested for shoplifting and obstructing an investigation after he stole a $180 tablet from Kohl's, 9035 S. Howell Ave., at 5:10 p.m. March 11. The tablet was found in the back seat of his car.

4A propane tank for a gas grill was stolen in the 3700 block of East Becker Road between 7:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. March 12.

5A semi truck was stolen from Independence Corrugated, 7475 S. Sixth St., between 1 and 2 p.m. March 13. It was valued at $26,775. The truck was later involved in an accident in Milwaukee, and the driver was arrested for drunken driving and vehicle theft. The truck was returned to the business.

6A vertical saw, valued at $12,000, was stolen from Modern Elegance Stone Work, 200 W. Drexel Ave. The theft was reported at 5:55 p.m. March 15. The saw owner said he was storing his saw at the business. Police have a suspect.

7One hundred dollars was stolen out of a wallet in an employee-only area of Cost Cutters, 8907 S. Howell Ave., March 15. Police are investigating.

8An iPhone, valued at $500, was stolen from a booth at Culver's, 7841 S. Howell Ave., about 9 p.m. March 15. Its owner had plugged it into an outlet by one of the booths, and when he returned a short time later it was gone. A short time later the victim was advised that the iCloud app indicated the stolen phone was in the area of 23rd Street and Bridge in the city of Milwaukee. Police are investigating.

9A letterman jacket was stolen at the Oak Creek Community Center, 8580 S. Howell Ave., between 9:40 a.m. and 11 p.m. March 16. While the responding officer was taking the complaint, the jacket's owner and another witness saw a male enter the bathroom with the stolen jacket. Police arrested the male for theft, and the letterman's jacket was returned to the victim.


10A boy was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, about noon March 13.

11An officer checking a parked vehicle occupied by two males in the 3200 block of East Fitzsimmons Road arrested one of the occupants for possession of drug paraphernalia after he saw a tourniquet wrapped around his left leg and a metal cooker with residue in his lap at 3:50 a.m. March 14. The officer also discovered used syringes in the door handle compartment of the vehicle and cotton balls in one of the male's pants pocket. He also was taken into custody on two Oak Creek Police Department warrants for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

12A man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after the K-9 Unit found 6.9 grams of THC and a pipe in his room during a police "knock and talk" at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave., at 4:30 a.m. March 15.

13A man was arrested for possession of marijuana after K-9 Bronco found 3 grams of THC in a backpack inside a room at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave., at 8:45 p.m. March 15.

14A man was arrested for drugged driving after a motorist called 911 to report the driver of a red Jeep Cherokee fell asleep in the driver seat of his running vehicle in the 8400 block of South Fifth Avenue at 4:45 a.m. March 16. The caller approached the driver, who stated he was fine, before driving away. Police quickly found the vehicle, took the driver into custody and found a small glass jar with 4.4 grams of THC inside the car. He was cited for possession of marijuana and taken to Wheaton Franciscan for a blood draw, the results of which were unavailable.


15A man was arrested for drunken driving and cited for running a red light in the 8000 block of South Howell Avenue at 2:10 a.m. March 12. His blood-alcohol content was 0.08.

16A woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 400 block of West Puetz Road at 2:15 a.m. March 13. Her BAC was 0.16.

17A woman was arrested for drunken driving and cited for an unsafe lane deviation in the 7200 block of South 27th Street at 1:40 a.m. March 14. Police also cited her for possession of marijuana after finding several blunts in her vehicle and a bag containing THC, which she said belonged to her boyfriend "who smokes a lot of marijuana." She later admitted to police that she drank "a few beers." Her BAC was 0.16.

18A woman was arrested for drunken driving at Taco Bell, 8261 S. Howell Ave., at 11:50 p.m. March 15. She had slurred speech when she placed her order, and started to nod off while waiting for her food at drive-thru window. She had two children, ages 4 and 7, as passengers inside the vehicle. She was taken to Wheaton Franciscan for a blood draw to determine her BAC. The two children were taken home by Oak Creek police.

19A man was arrested for drunken driving after an employee reported an intoxicated driver had just gone through the drive-thru at McDonald's, 9471 S. 13th St., at 2 a.m. March 16. The responding officer found the driver sitting in his running vehicle waiting for his food, and the passenger stated they had just come from downtown Milwaukee and had been drinking. The driver admitted to drinking three or four beers and two shots; his BAC was 0.14.


20A car window was pried open in the "park and fly" section of the parking lot at Candlewood Suites, 6440 S. 13th St., between March 10 and 6:15 a.m. March 11. The car was rummaged through but nothing was taken. Damage is estimated at $100.

21A door and frame were damaged during an apparent burglary attempt at E&B Lawn Care, 400 E. Oak St., between the evening of March 12 and 11:50 a.m. March 13. Damage is estimated at $100.


22The Oak Creek Fire Department and police responded to a 911 call from a motorist who reported the sign outside the Oakwood Motel, 8810 S. 27th St., was on fire at 11 p.m. March 14. According to the Fire Department report, the side of the sign near the road caught on fire, broke away from the frame and fell into a bush, causing the bush to catch on fire. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department. Damage is estimated at $2,500.


23A boy was cited for disorderly conduct after he yelled profanities and racial slurs at a school administrator who was trying to intervene during a verbal argument at Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, at 8:55 a.m. March 13.

24A boy was cited for disorderly conduct at Oak Creek East Middle School, 9330 S. Shepard Ave., after he got mad at another student for making fun of his hair, confronted him in a hallway and punched him four or five times in the head about 1:20 p.m. March 13.

25A man was cited for disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license, sixth offense, after a caller reported he got out of a car, pulled his shirt up over his nipples and urinated while yelling and moaning loudly in the parking lot at Brandywood Apartments, 8900 S. Wood Creek Drive, about 2:55 a.m. March 16.

· Oak Creek police assisted with 13 rescue calls and one fire call between March 11 and March 16.
