Police Report: Feb. 18

1A $200 GPS unit, about $20 and a garage door opener were stolen from an unlocked truck in the 8700 block of South Wood Creek Drive between 12:15 and 1:45 p.m. Feb. 11. The garage door opener was used to open the garage, and a reciprocating saw, a chop saw, an air compressor and a screw gun were stolen. The items stolen from the garage were valued at $675.


2An auto code scanner, valued at $4,000, was stolen off a vehicle parked by the front door at Unlimited Auto, 9340 S. 27th St., between 7 a.m. Feb. 5 and 7 a.m. Feb. 6.

3A resident in the 6400 block of South 20th Street reported that a package containing two computer cooling fans, valued at $30, was stolen after it was mistakenly delivered to the wrong address by Fed/Ex at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 5. After the caller verified with Fed/Ex that it had been delivered to her neighbor's address, she questioned her neighbor about it and he denied receiving it. Police later found the neighbor at Applebee's in Oak Creek, where he admitted receiving the package but explained that he believed the urban legend that if you receive a package by mail it is yours, even if it was a mistake. After the man agreed to return the package to the caller he received a verbal warning for theft.

4A person driving a silver Kia Rios was seen cutting a catalytic converter off a Toyota Tundra at Northstar Auto Group, 9330 S. 27th St., about 4:25 a.m. Feb. 7. Police spoke to a witness and are following up with the vehicle owner. Damage to the Toyota is estimated at $500.

5A man was arrested for theft of a credit card and fraudulent use of a credit card after he admitted stealing a debit card from a residence he was cleaning in the 200 block of East Parkway Estates Drive, and using it to make $182 worth of charges at various gas stations between 7 p.m. Feb. 7 and 7 p.m. Feb. 8.

6About 100 feet of copper, a $75 value, was reported stolen from a building under construction in the 7300 block of South 10th Street at 7:15 a.m. Feb. 8.

7A Chrysler minivan was stolen from the rear parking lot at Comfort Suites, 6362 S. 13th St., between 4 a.m. Feb. 9 and 10 p.m. Feb. 14. The vehicle was found in Milwaukee on Feb. 16.

8A parking light/directional light was stolen off a 1996 Dodge Ram truck at Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 11. Loss is estimated at $90.

9A student at Milwaukee Area Technical College, 6665 S. Howell Ave., reported his $450 Apple iPhone 4 was stolen off his desk during a class break about 11:15 a.m. Feb. 11.

10A $600 Apple iPhone 5 was stolen out of an office at Milwaukee Area Technical College, 6665 S. Howell Ave., between 12:40 and 1 p.m. Feb. 11. GPS showed the phone was somewhere in the 2100 block of North 34th Street.

11Two men stole three security systems, a $1,170 value, at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., about 8:10 p.m. Feb. 11. The men fled from employees who tried to detain them and then left the lot in a black compact vehicle and were last seen heading north on 27th Street.

12Two men were arrested for shoplifting after one of them was seen concealing four spools of copper wire, a $160 value, under his coat at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14. The men then went to the Menards in West Milwaukee where they were caught shoplifting the same items and were taken into custody.

13A gray vehicle, valued at $2,500, was stolen from the back parking lot at Comfort Suites, 6362 S. 13th St., between 3:30 and 10 p.m. Feb. 15.

14A man was arrested for shoplifting at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., after he was seen removing a $200 radio system from the shelf, cutting the box open with a key and then going to the service counter in an attempt to return it about 2:25 p.m. Feb. 16.


15Two males were arrested for battery after they jumped out of a car and chased down two boys, then kicked and punched one of them in the 3800 block of East Bluestem Drive about 1 a.m. Feb. 8. The victim had bumps and bruises, but refused medical attention.


16A woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was taken into custody for a probation violation in the 7400 block of South Howell Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 11.

17Officers responding to a report that two people were seen rolling a joint while sitting inside a vehicle at the Timber Ridge Apartments, 6885 S. Timber Ridge Lane, arrested one male for possession of marijuana and a second male for possession of drug paraphernalia at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 11.

18A man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after K-9 Bronco found a plastic bag containing 1 gram of THC inside a shaving bag and a glass pipe used to smoke meth inside a suitcase in a room at LaQuinta, 7141 S. 13th St., at 7:10 p.m. Feb. 13.

19A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon after he called 911 to report that his vehicle was in a ditch and he didn't know where he was or what road he was on at 5:50 a.m. Feb. 15. A passerby called police to report a car in a ditch at Fifth Avenue between Oak Road and American Avenue. When officers arrived to help, they noticed the man smelled of marijuana. He admitted to police that he had smoked "all the weed" earlier that morning. Police also found a half-full bottle of cognac on the rear seat of his car, a folded knife concealed in the center console and an orange prescription bottle with THC residue. Additionally, he was cited for driving with a suspended license and inattentive driving.

20A wallet containing a debit card, driver's license and medical insurance card was stolen while its owner was at McDonald's, 9471 S. 13th St., between 2 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15. The debit card was then used to make $150 worth of purchases at multiple stores before the victim could report the card stolen. Police are following up.


21A woman was arrested for drunken driving after she drove her car into a ditch in the 8700 block of South 15th Street at 11:50 p.m. Feb. 8. She said she was on her way to get some food at Taco Bell when she looked down at her phone and got stuck in the snow, which caused her to go into the ditch. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.18.

22A woman was arrested for drunken driving and cited for speeding after she sped past a police squad in the 1100 block of West Rawson Avenue and did not pull over until she reached her apartment building about 2:15 a.m. Feb. 10. She refused to perform field sobriety tests and told the officer she wanted to be arrested. Her BAC was 0.19.

23A man was arrested for drunken driving and cited for speeding in the 9900 block of South Howell Avenue at 12:55 a.m. Feb. 15. His BAC was 0.14.

24A man was arrested for drunken driving, third offense, and for driving without a driver's license in the 1500 block of East Forest Hill Avenue about 2 a.m. Feb. 16. His BAC was 0.10.


25A man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for treatment of back pain after he struck a city salt truck that pulled into his lane to make a U-turn at a median break while both vehicles were traveling westbound in the 1800 block of West Drexel Avenue about 4:10 p.m. Feb. 8. The driver of the salt truck was cited for causing injury by failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn/turn-around, and the injured driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

26A woman was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for evaluation of chest pains after her vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle in the 1800 block of West Ryan Road about 2:20 p.m. Feb. 12. The driver of the striking vehicle was cited for following too closely.

27One person was taken to St. Luke's South Shore hospital for treatment of neck pain after a two-car collision at Drexel Avenue and Verdev Drive at 3:35 p.m. Feb. 15. One of the drivers was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn and a license permit violation.


28A vehicle's tire was slashed in the 3600 block of East Barbara Court between 5 p.m. Feb. 7 and 1 p.m. Feb. 9. Damage is estimated at $120.

29A minivan's window was smashed out while it was parked on the east end of the parking lot at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave., between Feb. 13 and 2:15 p.m. Feb. 15. Nothing was reported missing from inside the van. Damage is estimated at $150.


30Police responded to Love's Travel Center, 9650 S. 20th St., after a caller reported speaking with an intoxicated truck driver who was asking about how to get drugs and hookers about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 11. The caller stated the driver, who he described as "a Tommy Chong look-alike," was driving an Americorp Xpress Truck. Police checked the unoccupied truck parked at the business but did not find the driver.

31The general manager at the Value Inn, 9420 S. 20th St., called police after a cleaning person reported a subject in a room was in bed, unconscious and unresponsive at 1:55 p.m. Feb. 13. The manager went to the room to check on the person while police and the Oak Creek Fire Department were enroute and discovered the "person" was just a pile of pillows underneath some covers. The manager will re-train his staff on their emergency procedures.

32An anonymous caller reported that the manager at Papa John's Pizza, 8645 S. Howell Ave., was screaming at employees and asked that a police officer talk to the manager about his bad behavior in front of customers about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 14. An officer spoke to the manager, who stated the employees were not doing their job and he had to yell at them. The manager was warned.

33The principal at Oak Creek High School, 3340 E. Puetz Road, requested police respond to the main entrance of the school as some parents were getting volatile with others over a basketball game at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 14. The principal stated that some of the students' parents had been getting "mouthy" with the other teams' parents and wanted officers to stand by. All the parents that were causing issues left prior to officers' arrival, but police stayed in the gym area until more people cleared out.

34A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he got into a loud argument with his girlfriend and threw a glass of water at her at Denny's Restaurant, 9650 S. 20th St., about 3:35 a.m. Feb. 16.

35A woman was cited for telephone harassment at The Courts, 195 W. Puetz Road, after she called another tenant six times about 6 a.m. Feb. 16. The victim stated this harassment has been going on since August. When officers attempted contact at the woman's apartment she was found on the bathroom floor, intoxicated. She was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. She was cited for unlawful use of a phone/harassment with obscenity.

· Oak Creek police assisted with 29 rescue calls and two fire calls between Feb. 7 and Feb. 17.
