Police Report: March 12

1A Grinch-shaped tin containing $680 in cash was stolen from a bedroom closet in a residence in the 6300 block of South 27th Street between 8 p.m. March 4 and 8 a.m. March 5. No forced entry was seen at the residence and nothing else was disturbed.

2A woman's purse was stolen from the Salvation Army Store, 6341 S. 27th St., between 11:10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. March 5. The victim stated her credit cards were also used at several Milwaukee gas stations. Police are following up with the businesses.

3An 80-year-old Oak Creek woman was arrested for shoplifting DVDs and bandages at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 1:35 p.m. March 5.

4A 33-year-old Racine woman was arrested for shoplifting after she took a bar code from a lower priced item and placed it on a more expensive item (a DVD player) at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 4:30 p.m. March 5.

5A woman called police after an unknown subject(s) used her credit card to make over $576 worth of fraudulent charges after she either lost or forgot her wallet at Pick 'n Save, 7780 S. Lovers Lane Road, at 8:30 p.m. March 6. The woman's wallet, containing her driver's license, insurance cards and other store credit cards, was not recovered.

6A 27-year-old Oak Creek woman was arrested for shoplifting 13 cosmetic items at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 11:15 a.m. March 7.

7A 43-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting $28 of clothing at Goodwill Industries, 6941 S. Riverwood Blvd., at 1:40 p.m. March 8.

8An unknown man fled after he tried to take three hard drives, valued at $267, at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 2:53 p.m. March 8. The suspect, described as a 6-foot, 5-inch tall Hispanic male weighing about 250 pounds with a tattoo on his neck, was last seen fleeing the parking lot in a gray Chevy Monte Carlo.

9A 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for receiving stolen property after police discovered stolen license plates on his vehicle at the Embassy Motel, 8253 S. 27th St., at about 2 a.m. March 9.

10Four Ford F250 tailgates were stolen from Hiller Ford, 6455 S. 108th St., between 8:38 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. March 10. The tailgates were black, silver, gray and white in color and are valued at $3,000 each.


11A 17-year-old Franklin boy was arrested for battery after he was involved in a physical altercation with an 18-year-old man at Franklin High School, 8222 S. 51st St., at 8:30 a.m. March 6. He was also cited for disorderly conduct after he swore at the teacher who broke up the fight, then continued swearing loudly down the hallway until he reached the principal's office.


12A 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were arrested for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 4000 block of West Cypress Lane at 2:35 p.m. March 4.


13A 26-year-old Racine man was arrested for drunken driving (second offense) and cited for speeding, possession of marijuana and operating while suspended in the 8600 block of West Loomis Road at 2:25 a.m. March 8. His blood alcohol content was 0.17.

14A 56-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 6200 block of South 23rd Street at 7:30 p.m. March 8. Her BAC was 0.17.


15A 60-year-old Franklin man was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after he struck a car that pulled out from a private driveway into his path while he was traveling southbound on 27th Street and Sycamore Street at 9:48 a.m. March 6. The driver of the other car, a 31-year-old Beloit woman, was also taken to the hospital. She was cited for failure to yield the right of way.


16Four mailboxes were vandalized and one mailbox was stolen between the 9200 and 9300 blocks of South Sherwood Drive, and one mailbox post was damaged in the 3700 block of West Hilltop Lane prior to 8 a.m. March 4.

17The passenger-side window of a vehicle was broken while it was parked at Salvation Army, 6341 S. 27th St., at 11:05 a.m. March 5. The suspect, a male driving a newer model black sedan, fled south on South 27th Street and he was not found.

18An unknown subject(s) pulled off the driver-side door handle and pried the door lock open on a vehicle parked at Planet Fitness, 6529 S. 27th St., between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. March 5. Nothing was reported missing from inside the vehicle.

19An unknown subject(s) broke the lock on a towel dispenser, removed the trash can and threw garbage throughout the public women's bathroom at the Franklin Police Department, 9455 W. Loomis Road, between March 6 and March 7. Police are working with the court clerk for possible suspect information stemming from a court trial during the evening of March 6.

20A resident in the 8900 block of South 76th Street reported an unknown subject(s) damaged his lawn ornaments and stole a shovel off his property between 10:30 p.m. March 9 and 6 a.m. March 10. The subject(s) intentionally dragged the concrete ornaments to the street with the shovel and left them there to be struck by passing vehicles. A special patrol was requested in the area.


21Firefighters and police responded to a fire in a rooftop heating and cooling unit at Home Depot, 6489 S. 27th St., at 8:04 p.m. March 9. The store was evacuated and the fire was extinguished. The unit suffered minor damage and there was no damage to the building.


22A resident in the 3800 block of West Sharon Lane called police after she reported unknown subject(s) tried to enter her home by turning the door handle about 2:30 p.m. March 4. The caller stated that when she asked why they were trying to get into her house a female stated they were going to talk to her about Jesus. Officers found a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet inside the screen door but did not find the subject's vehicle, a newer model maroon Chevy.

23A resident in the 11700 block of West Woods Road called police to report seeing a "peeping tom" on his property during the evening hours of March 6. The resident told police he saw a darkly clothed figure outside the west patio doors who fled when the resident saw him. Officers found footprints in the snow where the subject was seen and a special patrol was requested.

24An 82-year-old Mequon man was arrested for operating after revocation and cited for hit & run (property damage) after he struck a pole in front of Northwestern Mutual in the 7700 block of South 27th Street, and then left the scene at about 7:30 p.m.

25Officers investigating a hit and run in the parking lot at Walgreens, 9909 W. Loomis Road, arrested an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both of Franklin, for underage drinking in the 8700 block of West Puetz Road about 9 p.m. March 10. The 17-year-old was also cited for hit and run.

Franklin police assisted with one fire call between March 4 and March 10.
