DOT changes mind about roundabout on Highway 100

The state Department of Transportation has dropped plans for a roundabout near the intersection of Janesville Road and Highway 100.

The DOT had proposed it as part of its plans to reconstruct the road beginning in 2014. Instead, the state will make improvements to the existing intersection, Hales Corners Administrator Mike Weber said.

The state has also agreed to install stoplights at Abbott Avenue.

Hales Corners personnel are still meeting with DOT officials to discuss some 'refinements' to their plan, Weber said. Local officials have previously objected to several components of the plan, including the relocation of seven businesses near Forest Home Avenue and Janesville Road.
