The Barking Lot-America's Finest Dog Blog (06/21/14)

The Barking Lot

The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In
Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me.  It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then its DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!

THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY:  Dense fog advisory until 9:00 this morning. Skies will be cloudy in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of isolated storms. Overall, mighty good, but there's that slight chance of rain. High of 79. "B"

SUNDAY:  Muggy with a 30% chance of isolated storms before skies become partly cloudy around 4:00. High of 71. "B"

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:

Got a dirty Doberman?  A stinky Schnauzer?  What about a yucky Yorkie?  If your canine is less than clean, and you’d like to support a worthy cause then may I suggest a drive out to Middleton today, with your terrier in tow.

The good news is that Dogtopia, a canine day care, is sponsoring a dog wash to support Paws with a Cause.  (PWAC provides service dogs to veterans and others with disabilities.)  The bad news is there is only one location in Wisconsin.

Because readers from all over our great state enjoy reading The Barking Lot, there may be people in that area who would love to suds their spaniel for a great charity.  I encourage anyone who can to take part in this wash-a-thon.

Dogtopia was founded in Virginia, so it stands to reason there are several locations in that state.  Hopefully our Middleton branch will have a successful event.  I wish them the very best and look forward to hearing how it went.

Another doggy day care, Central Bark, offers MANY locations in Wisconsin.  I know several dog owners who take their fur babies to one of those franchises, and they can’t say enough about them.  I am happy to see that they take community involvement so seriously.  Perhaps if you utilize their daycare services, you could encourage your location to consider a wash event to support PWAC as well.

Again, best of luck to all the locations – particularly Wisconsin’s.  If you are unable to attend the event but would like to support this worthy endeavor, please consider a donation using the “donate” button on the upper right portion of the page.  With the ease of Pay Pal you’re on your way to helping those in need.
