Here's a place that doesn't do business the Franklin way

We know that Franklin unceremoniously dumped Mike Zimmerman and his proposed minor league baseball stadium. It would have covered about 30 acres. In rejecting the idea, Franklin chose, instead to have…nothing.

Meanwhile in Sun Prairie, plans are underway to raise funds for an indoor sports facility “large enough for a full-sized football or lacrosse field, as well as a rock-climbing wall, classroom space, batting cages and a two-story Lucky’s Bar and Grille. Outdoor amenities would include five multipurpose fields — including a championship field with lights — two baseball diamonds and 460 parking spaces.”

The project would cover about 58 acres.

In Sun Prairie, there’s an excitement, a buzz about the venture.

Obviously Sun Prairie has vision, an eye toward growth, ideas, and forward thinking. I wonder what that would feel like around here.

Sun Prairie has about 30,000 people; Franklin about 35,000. Comparable sized cities, but miles apart in a futuristic outlook.
