The latest note from Franklin Mayor-elect Steve Olson

The swearing in of the new elected officials is Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Kristen, Janet, Suzanne and I will take our oaths at the beginning of the meeting. I'll have mayoral proclamations for the service of Mayor Tom Taylor and Alderman Steve Taylor. I'll also have recognition of service for retiring Deputy City Clerk and good friend Jodi Vandenboom. We'll have election by the council of their next Council President and my appointments to various boards and commissions of the aldermen. Everyone is welcome to this meeting.

For those parents with children attending Forest Park Middle school, I have an update on the 76th and Forest Hill traffic signal issue. I spoke with State Senator Mary Lazich and asked her to discuss the issue with the executives at DOT and let them know that this is a safety issue for the children and their parents during peak school arrival and departure hours and ask the DOT to take another look at their decision in the light of that rationale. Sen. Lazich called me last week to tell me that she and Rep. Skowronski met with the DOT and that the DOT will take another look at the issue. I'll post any updates here.
