Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely young daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Democrat Senator says we do not have a spending problem?

Less than 10 days until the latest fiscal crisis hits, and Washington continues to grapple with a solution, let alone acknowledge the problem. Did you hear what Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) said last week?

“Everyone keeps saying we have a spending problem. And when they talk about that, it’s like there’s an assumption that somehow we as a nation are broke. …  If we’re so rich, why are we so broke? Is it a spending problem? No.”

Washington doesn't have a spending problem?  Wow. 

This comes a few days after Nancy Pelosi  also disputed claims that the government has a spending problem.

Here are the facts: we have a $1.1 trillion annual deficit, $16.5 trillion in national debt, and $122.6 trillion in unfunded liabilities (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
