The Legislature is Back to Work and Your Help is Needed!

The Wisconsin Legislature has been sworn in and the 2013-14 session is underway. It’s time to build on the success of the last two years and continue to move Wisconsin forward!

To ensure that we have another successful session in the Capitol, AFP Wisconsin will be there every step of the way holding our elected officials accountable and having their backs when they take the tough vote.

But we need your help.

The strength of AFP is the millions of activists across the country that step up and make their voices heard. We have 125,000 members in Wisconsin alone and we are getting pretty good at joining together and making our opinions known.

Our top priorities this session are reforming our iron mining laws, achieving education reform and passing a broad-based income tax cut. While Washington is doing its best to slow the economic recovery and take money out of your pockets, Wisconsin is leading the way in creating jobs, improving the futures of our children and letting you keep more of your hard earned money.

The first item up that we need your help with is getting mining reform passed quickly. Any day now, legislation will be introduced to reform iron mining laws in Wisconsin, a move that would help to create thousands of jobs and spur billions in private investment around the statePublic hearings will be held on the bill and we need you to come to Madison and let the politicians know how important this is for our state.

Stay tuned as we send out information on when you can testify in Madison and how you can contact your legislators directly.

We will also be bringing back the AFP Legislative Scorecard this session. We will be tracking every important piece of legislation and grading politicians on how they hold to the principles of Economic Freedom, Limited Government and Lower Taxes. This will also be a tool for you to stay up to date on key votes and how your elected officials stack up.

This is going to be a great session. Together we are going to make sure that we continue the Wisconsin Way and remain an example for the rest of the nation.

Yours in Liberty,

Luke Hilgemann

State Director
