The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of this just in…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!
THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.
TODAY: Partly cloudy. High of 71. "A"
SUNDAY: Sunny. High of 63. "B"
Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:
Around mid-September, you start to see it in stores: Pink is everywhere. Retailers across the board get set to sell items for October, the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From tongue-in-cheek “Save the Tata’s” to “I’m a SURVIVOR,” logos and slogans are abundant. It’s great that an entire month is dedicated to a critical women’s health issue.
But please, dear readers of The Barking Lot, don’t forget that October is ALSO Adopt-A-Dog month. If you feel your family is ready to bring a four-legged friend into your lives please consider a shelter dog. (Not sure if you’re up to the commitment? Take this quiz.)
I’m all about the mutts of the world. I always have been. Probably because the two dogs that meant the most to me (my own) were “mixed breeds.” However if your dog-loving heart is set on one particular breed, consider this: You can own a pedigree dog and save a dog from the shelter at the same time. Just contact the good folks at one of the breed rescue organizations.
If you’re feeling generous and are financially able, you could make a donation to a worthy organization even if you’re not in the market for a pup. Homeless dogs will certainly benefit from your kindness that would truly give deeper meaning to “a warm, fuzzy feeling.”
On behalf of all ready-to-be-adopted pooches, thank you for opening your heart!
