“Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect. And he’ll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that’s what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people—I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
Mitt Romney during a taped private conversation.

"The trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution. Because I actually believe in redistribution at least at a certain level to make to make sure everybody’s got a shot."
Barack Obama from a 1998 video that surfaced this week.

The Obama campaign wants the Romney tape to be a big issue, and the liberal media obey, covering it for nearly an hour and a half. Romney counters with a damaging tape of Obama, and it’s gets less than seven minutes of total coverage. The double standard is absolutely staggering. The liberal media are nothing more than the press office of the Obama campaign.”
Media Research Center boss Brent Bozell

“You can’t change Washington from the inside.”
President Obama

“President Obama’s excuse is, well, you can’t change Washington from the inside. Well, you actually can change Washington from the inside -- it takes courage, it takes determination and it takes sincerity. And it’s called leadership.”
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio)

“I want you first of all to acknowledge that you did not keep your promise.”
A Univision town hall moderator during an interview with President Obama.

“I did not make a promise that I would get everything done 100 percent when I was elected.”
President Obama refusing to admit that he broke his 2008 promise to get an immigration bill passed in his first year in office.

Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now, and it’s an important election, and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.”
Ann Romney to Republican critics of her husband.

“As Mitt Romney said, 47 percent of the people that are living off the public dole, living off their neighbors’ hard work, and we have a lot of people out there that are too lazy to get up and get out there and get the ID they need. If individuals are too lazy, the state can’t fix that.”
House Republican Daryl Metcalfe on the issue of photo ID.

"You don't do that in this league. You jeopardize not only them, you jeopardize the offensive line, you jeopardize the quarterback.”
New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin, upset with Tampa coach Greg Schiano because Bucs linemen bulldozed the middle of the Giants offensive line and knocked over quarterback Eli Manning after the Giants had sealed their 41-34 victory with an interception. The code between players is that's usually not a full-contact play. Bay

"I don't know if that's not something that's done in the National Football League, but what I do with our football team is we fight until they tell us the game is over. There's nothing dirty about it. There's nothing illegal about it. You crowd the ball. It's like a (quarterback) sneak defense. We try to knock it loose. But there's nothing illegal about it."
Greg Schiano’s explanation of the final play.

“Barack Obama, I don’t know. I already got one wife telling me to eat healthy. And, plus, he promised me death panels and Grampa is still alive. Mitt Romney? I hear he wears magic underpants. I expect the leader of the free world to go commando.”
Homer Simpson, deciding which candidate will get his vote.

“I’ve always been a hit with the ladies. Over the years I’ve had my fair share of beautiful women. I couldn’t possibly say how many I’ve been out with because I’m a gentleman. But more importantly I just haven’t kept count. I’ve had more women than James Bond. I think a lot of the women who threw themselves at me thought they were with James Bond…”
84-year old actor Roger Moore
