The two sides of Steve Taylor's mouth

The Franklin Common Council on Saturday approved spending $500,000 on traffic lighting, which is expected to clear the way for a new I-94 interchange at Drexel Ave. in Oak Creek.

Council President Ald. Steve Taylor said he voted no because he saw it as spending money in another city and he felt the state should have paid.

“The Drexel Interchange will be a key component for increasing economic development in both Oak Creek and Franklin,” Supervisor Taylor said. “The future of Milwaukee County’s economy is in the southern suburbs, and this new interchange will help us attract jobs, reduce our tax burden and provide essential services that our residents expect.”

"It's going to give additional access to Oak Creek and increase economic development," said Taylor, adding that Franklin, to the west, also will benefit.
