Ms. Elaine Kneeous

Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.

Here's to 2012!

Everyone that has a blog is doing some sort of year in review, including one of my favorites.   I’m not really into a recap of Ms. Elaine Kneeous but for the soon-to-be-here New Year, I thought I’d offer my readers a chance to comment with your resolutions after reading mine.

Some years I make resolutions, some years I don’t.  I guess it all depends on how goal-oriented and introspective I feel at the end of a December.  2009, 2010, and 2011 were pretty much consumed by our precious Kyla.  I was able to quit my job to be a full-time SAHM and I couldn’t be happier.  But 2012 needs a little more from me.

Oh I could do the “I will work out every day/I will lose 15 pounds” thing.  Likewise I could say “I will keep the living room, office, and kitchen tidy every day.”  But I’m not the type to set myself up for failure.  I’m keeping it simple and attainable for myself and will feel proud when I do, indeed, accomplish my goals.

1.  I will spend 15 minutes a day tidying/organizing a neglected area of our home.  The first thing I’m tackling is our junk/tool drawer and our paper/pen/coupon drawer.  When I read that spending just 15 minutes a day doing this adds up to over seven hours a month I realized I could easily carve out a quarter of an hour a day towards organization.

2.  I will read at least six non-fiction books by the end of 2012.  This amounts to one book every other month.  I could say one book per month but here’s the thing:  I love reading but don’t have a ton of spare time, AND I really only read fiction for entertainment purposes.  If I “force” myself to read some non-fiction I will broaden my horizons, learn a few things and step out of my literary comfort zone.

3.  I will transform our pantry into a family food center.  I know where everything is and it is somewhat categorized.  But after finding this blog I was truly inspired to add some beauty to this functional but not-at-all attractive spot in our kitchen.  I’m working on a plan to include style and practicality that fits our family’s lifestyle.  I’m not a neat freak so I will need to discipline myself to keep it looking nice after it is complete.  (I have to laugh at myself because in my introduction blog I specifically stated that organizing my pantry is not a priority!)

So now that my resolutions are out there for the world to see, I guess I’ll have to stick with them!  I look forward to chronicling my progress and offering some book reports as well.  ;-)

Tell me, dear readers, what are YOU going to work on (if anything) this year?
