Darden spins its total groveling to Michelle “Mrs. Big Government” Obama by proclaiming it is offering “greater choice and variety.”

Oh, I don’t know, husband of mine. Anyplace is fine as long as it offers choice and variety.

Let’s cut through the Michelle Obama –Darden BS save the children, we know better than parents spin.
Let’s cut to the chase. As the Associated press puts it so succinctly, “No more French fries for the little ones unless an adult asks for them.”
Unlike any other restaurant in the United states, if a kid wants French fries at Olive Garden or Red Lobster, if your little one wants French fries, you will need to specifically demand they be brought to the table. Because your kid couldn’t possibly know what danger he/she is inflicting.
Michelle Obama and Olive Garden might go to sleep with the usual liberal tingle of feeling oh so good about themselves but they’ve done nothing. Do parents take their kids to Olive Garden for french fires? Doubt it. They’ll head to McDonald’s or some other french fry place.
You incredible idiot, Michelle and whatever your name is CEO at Darden.
Mom or Dad will simply order the fries and feed them to their hungry child.

After a New England Journal of Medicine study a few months ago blasted the maligned potatoes and specifically, French fries, the Canadian Potato Potato Council responded:
• Potatoes are vegetables. In fact, they are one of the most naturally nutrient-dense vegetables available. One medium-size (5.3 ounce) skin-on potato contains just 110 calories per serving, has more potassium (620g) than a banana, provides almost half the daily value of vitamin C (45 per cent), and contains no fat, sodium or cholesterol.
• One baked potato offers about 20 per cent of the daily recommended amount of vitamin B6, which is good news for your heart. They are a good source of iron and copper. In fact, a potato a day is good for your heart, promoting normal blood-pressure levels. As it turns out, the bad rap belongs to the toppings. The health-conscious will want to bake, not fry, and be conscious of the nutritional value of the oils, toppings, and condiments that touch our spuds.
• You can lose the weight, without losing the potatoes. Research released by the

Carol Deptolla of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel gave us an impressive list of the area’s best 30 restaurants. Hard to argue with that litany.
BUT, I would submit that if you’re going to compile a thorough list, it can't possibly be complete if the newspaper's critic doesn't do her homework by ignoring or failing to review a good portion of all of the
As I've pointed out, Deptolla for some reason seems to have a bias or some disregard for the south side or southern suburbs of Milwaukee that she rarely samples; thus, these restaurants don't get visited and don't get the opportunity of being included in her overall compilation of the area's so-called "best."
I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. When you try to list the best, you're going to mess up.

Does anyone out there who is informed see the irony? The first lady, Michelle Obama, has had a year-long campaign against obesity. And now the federal government is thinking of allowing food stamps to be used at fast-food establishments (Quick Hit, Sept. 13).
