Together, we made a difference in Wisconsin!

Last night, Wisconsin Senate Republicans did their job--they governed. Critical portions of Governor Walker’s Budget Repair Bill were passed, curbing collective bargaining and lavish pension and health insurance benefits.

Senate Republicans in Wisconsin endured physical threats and intimidation by unions to change their votes but they were not deterred. They stood up in front of the threats and did what was right for the people of Wisconsin.

This is a big win for taxpayers not only across Wisconsin but across our great nation who stood up and said NO to out of control spending and union bullying.

Thank you for your incredible dedication and support throughout this battle. You rallied behind Governor Walker, called and wrote your legislator, signed our Stand With Walker petition, donated money and so much more. We could not have done it without you.

The measure that passed the Senate last night and the Assembly today will help bring fiscal responsibility back to Madison. Collective bargaining has been restricted and government workers must now pay a greater share of their health and retirement benefits.

It also gives local governments the ability to balance their budgets without raising taxes. Without this measure, taxes would have been massively increased or massive government workers laid off in order to address Wisconsin’s multi-million dollar deficit.

The fight is not over. National labor unions and their political allies have targeted Wisconsin and they will not stop until they take back control of Wisconsin’s government. In addition, important fiscal portions of the bill were not passed because the Democrats are still refusing to do the job they were elected to do and are hiding out somewhere in Illinois.

Americans for Prosperity will remain active and involved in the effort to make Wisconsin a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire. We look forward to the continuing debate as we work together to rein in out of control spending and put Wisconsin back on the path to economic freedom and prosperity.
