Press release from the State of the State address

My office issued this press release after Gov. Walker's State of the State address.

Sen. Mary Lazich reacts to State of the State address

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) issued the following statement about Gov. Scott Walker’s State of the State address Tuesday:

"The governor’s speech tonight was a sobering reminder of the difficult situation we face as a state. The challenges facing Wisconsin cannot be set aside any longer. There is not a nice way to put it: Wisconsin is in an economic and fiscal crisis.

"A culture of spending and poor fiscal management has taken root in recent years. To balance the budget today and ensure Wisconsin’s strength for the future, we must change that culture and return to our frugal roots.

"We have some very difficult, adult decisions to make – the types of decisions we are expected to make as elected officials. Voters put their faith in us, and we will deliver.

"As the governor mentioned tonight, we have successfully taken steps to change the economic culture in the state. Incentives for creating and expanding business in the state were adopted with bipartisan support. That same decisiveness is needed as we continue to put Wisconsin’s financial house in order and prepare the state for better days ahead."
