THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY:  Partly cloudy. High of 18.  "F"

SUNDAY:  Partly cloudy.  High of 18. "F"

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:

Every Christmas, our pets got gifts just like the rest of the family.  Tommy (our Sumo wrestler-sized cat) and Sugar and Skippy all knew what packages where theirs, so they remained hidden away until it was time to open all our “loot.”  Actually, they all got gifts on their birthdays as well.  And why shouldn’t they?  They are, after all, part of the family.  And if you are wondering…  Yes, they all wore red ribbons around their necks for the Christmas season.  Big surprise that Tommy wasn’t too fond of that tradition---I guess that’s why I’ve become even more of a dog person over the years!

Even in this still-recovering economy, pet owners won’t skimp on their beloved four-legged companions.  Among those in families touched by job loss in the past six months, 56 percent still plan to buy their pet a holiday gift Apparently, Wisconsin pet owners support those survey results as well.

I know that when we finally get our dog(s) there will most certainly be presents under the tree for them.  Also guaranteed is that they will be female dogs, meaning extra, EXTRA spoiling!  (The girls in our family have it really good.)  So it’s safe to assume that we’ll be checking out all the websites mentioned in this article.

BONUS:  In case you are wondering what the best way to include your pup in the festivities might be, consider these tips.

You have just one week until Christmas…  Consider shopping locally at Caesar’s Pet in Greendale Village.  You’re sure to find something wonderful for your furry friend.
