My Franklin neighborhood is about to become tons of litter

I write this around 11:30 Monday night. The forecast for Franklin says:

Monday night:  Strong winds.

Tuesday: Strong winds.

Huh, huh, huh. I laugh at high winds.

Problem is, it’s Kismet.

Whenever gale force winds blow out of wherever, it’s garbage pickup time in my subdivision and neighborhood.

Do you have any idea what that means?

This is Franklin, not utopia.

Franklin, where people fold up their sidewalks at 4:00 in the afternoon in November and December.

Franklin, where residents hide under their beds when a half an inch of rain is in the forecast.

Franklin, where if you have 8 TV’s, 12 computers, and 14 radios, you still want a government siren right outside your house to blast the hell out of you with these instructons…

Now, listen up.

I know that Tuesday morning in my little part of Franklin, it’s garbage pick up time.

The all knowing city of Franklin officials have informed me that I must have my garbage out by 7:00. 7:00. 7:00! That’s a.m. ladies and gentlemen.

Of course, pick-up doesn’t actually come until 12, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, etc.

By the end of the day, I will have garbage all over my property.

My neighbors think it’s more than appropriate to leave thier trash at the end of the driveway piled at least a half foot on top of the container.

When Dorothy is looking out her bedroom window at cows and all sorts of objects flying by, I will probably see someone else's garbage container rolling down the street.

Franklin, Brookfield, Greendale, Brown Deer, Fox Point, etc.: Don't be surprised if your nice back yard or neighborhood is Sanford and Son Tuesday or Wednesday.
